Water-splashing Festival

The water-splashing festival is the New Year for the Dai people, which is called "sangkangbimai".

The celebration of the New Year's Day 1386 of the Dai Calendarthe Water Festival in 2024, hosted a grand parade of traditional ethnic and folk cultures, with representatives of all ethnic groups singing and dancing in festive costumes, demonstrating the rich and colorful traditional ethnic cultures to the public and tourists.

"Water" is a unique way of sending blessings to the Dai people on New Year's Day. The more you're soaked, the more blessings you get. This is how people express their feelings and wishes for the future.
