Chengdu FISU World University Games

In 2017, Chengdu, the capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, put forward a development strategy to build itself into a world-famous sports city. The following year, it won the right to host the 31st summer edition of the International University Sports Federation, or FISU, World University Games, and the pace of achieving its goal was accelerated.

After more than 1,000 days of preparations, the opening ceremony of the games were staged at Dong'an Lake Sports Park in Chengdu on July 28, adopting the theme 'simple, safe and splendid'.

FISU Games will allow student-athletes to have firsthand experience of China. "The value of sport is more than sport," said Eder, the FISU Acting President on last Thursday.
