Absolut Vodka has announced a new bottle made of 57% paper with a plastic inner liner, which the company describes as the latest stage in the future to create "100% bio-based bottles".

Elin Furelid, director of future packaging for Absolut Vodka, said: "We're exploring packaging that has a completely different value proposition. The paper is tactile, it's beautiful, and it's real, it's light, but it's not just an idea on paper.”

More than 35 million Americans are interested in finding more sustainable wine packaging, aware of the environmental impact of glass bottles and more beverage brands are looking to reduce their carbon footprint, the study found.
