Secondary classification:

How will American Single Malt Whisky be defined?

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) published proposed standards for US single malt whisky not long ago and the public can comment on the proposal until September 27, 2022.

Under the proposed standard, American single malt whisky must be made entirely in an American distillery from 100% barley malt, stored in oak barrels of 700L or less, and bottled with a minimum alcohol content of 40%. Regarding oak barrels, the use of new or secondary casks are allowed. it is expected that the final definition will not deviate significantly from the proposed.

Should the definition of single malt whisky result in changes of packaging relating to texts, Lykwell is ready to print your new ones for full compliance with the definition.
